“What is the subject of your life meditation?” In other words, what do you spend most of your time thinking about or reflecting on in life? Most times, we are forced to think or reflect on negative things because (i) of the circumstances we go through or find ourselves in life (ii) the fact that we cannot predict the future and (iii) the things we hear, read or listen to regularly. Your words, dreams and thoughts all have power to create varying conditions in your life. What you speak about, you can bring about. If you keep saying you can’t stand your body, your body can become sick.
If you keep saying you can’t stand your car, your car could be stolen. If you keep saying you are always broke, you will always be broke. If you keep saying you can’t trust, you will always have someone in your life who will hurt and betray you. If you keep saying you can’t find a job, you will remain unemployed. If you keep saying you can’t find someone to love or believe in you, your thoughts will attract more experiences to confirm your beliefs. If you keep talking about a divorce or breakup in a relationship, then you might end up with it. Psalm 49:3 says, "My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding." The key here is to meditate with understanding, knowing fully well that the folly or wisdom we utter from our mouth is directly proportional to what we think and reflect on. Turn your thoughts and conversations around to be more positive and power-packed with faith, hope, love and action.
“What should you think on?” "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Phil. 4:8) The scripture admonishes us, according to the above scripture that we should think or “ponder” on positive things or rather, things that edify and build up our spirit. This means that what we make the subject of our meditation, on a daily basis, matters a lot. We need to believe that we can have what we wan and deserve. This is because it is our thoughts that form our words, our words in turn form our actions. Our actions form our habits or lifestyles and our habits form our character. Our character in turn molds or shapes our destiny.
“Why should you think on these things?” Thinking or reflecting on all the things mentioned in the scripture above gives us a lot of lifetime benefits, some of which are as follows: (i) Your courage over fear in life is established. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he (ii) Your confidence to achieve in life is revealed. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Phil. 4:13) (iii) Your dreams in life are realized. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Eph. 3:20)
Get out of your own way! The moment you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for. Remember, you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. Once again, what is the subject of your life meditation? The choice is yours!
